Highlights from Hooper Mobile Office Visit

April 24, 2015

Last week my staff made a mobile office visit to Hooper City and enjoyed the opportunity to meet with individuals in the area. In addition to the mobile office visit, my staff also met with Mayor Korry Green and attended a special event at Hooper Elementary. I would like to thank all those who braved the spring snow to come out and visit with my staff.

The event at Hooper Elementary featured 5th and 6th grade students from the after-school government club who participated in a mock congressional hearing. Organized by teacher Melinda Sayers, the mock hearing was the culmination of a yearlong focus on the Constitution and American government.

As part of the event, studentswere divided into teams and given topics to research and present before a panel of judges. The students then took questions from the judges about a variety of topics including the First and Fourth Amendments, property rights, and the Constitutional Convention of 1787. Overall, the event was a huge success and a great reminder of how important the study of government is to our rising generation.

Next week my mobile office will be in multiple cities across the site, you can find out if it will be near you here.
